Suspended between one world and another lies Kristen Giorgi’s Architecture of Escape. Light shimmers through corridors of color, and the boundary between built space and imagination begins to blur. The collection exists in a liminal state—where release meets control, and freedom gives rise to form. “It’s the pause in a doorway,” Giorgi says, “the moment you realize you can cross into somewhere else.” We’re left lingering at the threshold, invited to step through, and to glimpse the transformation waiting on the other side.
ARTIST RESIDENCY AT DARA MAISON, LONDON
Dara Maison, located in the Chelsea neighborhood of London, welcomed Kristen Giorgi for a solo exhibition and as the house's first artist in residency in Spring 2024. Though suffused with light, Giorgi's paintings for the residency have an underlying edge, combining the delicate and the daring. Mixing paints directly on the studio floor, Giorgi created rich and layered color palettes, and embraced accidents and chance effects which might occur.
